Senior investigators from the FAZD Center and the Plum Island Animal Disease Center (PIADC) identified several points for future collaboration during a workshop in mid-January.
Led by FAZD Center Director Neville P. Clarke and PIADC Director Larry Barrett, the investigators agreed the two centers should consider working together on a wide range of research projects, including:
- An evaluation of diagnostic tests for Rift Valley fever (as developed by the Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (FADDL) with wild viruses at the University of Texas Medical Branch, a partner of the FAZD Center.
- Research between the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and the FAZD Center on immunomodulation products, which alter an animal’s immune system by activating or suppressing its function. Continue reading
