Memorandum of Opposition: Animal Health Monitoring and Surveillance (AHMS)

The reason this is long is to head off the coming tsunami of evil that is poised to crush small agriculture.  Take a few minutes to write your own Memorandum of Opposition.  Feel free to use anything put in my Memorandum, it is for your use also.  I have a template on the right hand side at www.nonaiswa.org if you are new to this list.  I know this is getting old but we need to stand firm.

Next year is going to be very interesting to say the least….

Say NO to GMO FrankenFish

The Center for Food Safety today launched a new campaign website, www.ge-fish.org,  focused on the pending approval and labeling of genetically engineered salmon, the first GE animal intended for human consumption. The website comes one week before the FDA’s scheduled public hearing on the approval of AquaBounty’s AquaAdvantage, GE Atlantic salmon.

CFS’s new website has educational materials, actions for consumers and companies, incuding chefs and restaurants, and a section containing scientific articles on the GE salmon and other GE fish.

Politics: The Humane Party (Green)

The Humane Party is the new green party.  For years the eco-radical movement, with groups such as Earth First, PETA and the Foundation for Deep Ecology gained both skill and momentum.  In their beginnings they held classes for civil disobedience which in itself may not be a bad thing.  Unfortunately for all of us sitting in trees and being carried out of peaceful protests did not achieved what they desired, a world where animals known as sentient beings, had equal if not superior legal standing to human beings.  This new party is the “Humane Party” has a deep rooted philosophy of Deep Ecology which if implemented would banish human beings from most areas and set up islands and free range corridors for indigenous wildlife and extinction of domesticated animals.  In 1991 a plan was devised called the Wildlands Project which is slowly moving through state and the federal government under the innocuous  new name of Y2Y, Yukon to Yellowstone. To these folks their Deep Ecology Philosophy is a religion not animal care.   The Humane Party claims it has no affiliation with the Humane Society nor Humane Society of the US and yet its leader are deeply involved with Deep Ecology environmentalism, primacy of sentient beings, animal primacy lawyers who sue farmers, animal spirituality, PETA, while the campaign strategist is a Realtor. Public Request to Exec Out HB 2086 & SB 5956

Dear Agricultural Chairmen and Committee Members,

I want to thank you for your voluntary participation in the hearing of the proposed bills, Voluntary Participation in the National Animal Identification System (known as NAIS), and presented to you in the forms of HB 2086 and SB 5956 yesterday afternoon, 2/17/2009, at 1:30 PM PT in both the Senate and House Agricultural Committees. The issue of the National Animal Identification System is not new to you because it began implementation 6 years ago, costing Washingtonians thousands of dollars for a redundant system wanting to supplant programs that had already achieved success years ago.

For you who are members of the Agricultural Committees, two things were emphasized in yesterday’s hearings:

* Protecting the health of people and animals in Washington State

* Maintaining economic viability in a global economy

Unfortunately, it is my understanding that Dr. Eldridge and Mary Beth Lang provided these Agricultural Committees with some mis-information. Please allow me to clarify, and I apologize beforehand for a slightly technical document.

* Currently the WSDA and Dr. Eldridge already have all the power, funding, resources, and guidelines needed to deal with any agricultural related emergency. The following are the resources Dr. Eldridge has at his disposal: Continue reading

Send ‘Good Neighbor Vet’ a Comment Against RFID

Here is the contact information for Good Neighbor Vet the proud owner of the *RFID cancer chip-mobile*. How this company can justify what they do is beyond common sense. If you get separated from your pet or animal you *might* be able to get the animal back. But …..in doing so you just might cause an aggressive and malignant cancer. Is it worth it? Let this company know what what you think of their pro-chip policy:

NoNAISWA at Snohomish County Town Hall

Snohomish-NoNAISWA attended the Town Hall in Lake Stevens this morning. About 40 people gathered to meet with two Representatives about various issues. It was well spent time. Many issues were brought up and clarified and people got a chance to talk with the Representative Dunshee and Representative Lovick in a casual setting. I introduced myself and thanked the Representatives for their support of NoNAIS proposed legislation HB 1151. I then had an opportunity to explain and clarify to the attendees three pillars of the NAIS. People were very interested. They asked the Representatives for more information and as a team we were able to provide the public with more information (and business cards with our blog). What a great opportunity this was and I hope that you all check and see if some Town Hall meetings are taking place in your area. I can honestly say that the audience was very engaged in finding out more about this program. When you go take flyers (I didn’t think about it).  We got a chance to meet with a great bunch of folks and the ones who attended are very *active*.

Seize opportunities to share NoNAIS with the public who are being witheld information on this program.
