Botulism 101
Botulism has been sweeping across America and the world with growing intensity. Is this an accident or is it a plan to contaminate the food supply in an effort to control the food and depopulate human and animal life?
Early documents secured under Public Disclosure told of a time when the food supply would become contaminated (unsafe) and that the public would demand farmers and others embrace the National Animal Identification System and other regulatory tools to ensure their food safety. Well the chickens are coming home to roost.
Botulism has been a favorite for biological warfare experimentation. The public became aware of the problem in Spring 2006 with the melamine contamination in pet food. Thousands upon thousands of animals of different species became ill and died. Some expired quickly while others died slow agonizing deaths. Many died of renal (kidney) failure.
Clostridium difficile is a species of Gram-positive bacteria of the genus Clostridium. Clostridia are anaerobic, spore-forming rods (bacillus). C. difficile is the most significant cause of pseudomembranous colitis. It is a severe infection of the colon, often happening after normal gut flora is eradicated by use of antibiotics. The C. difficile bacteria, which naturally reside in the body, become overgrown: the overgrowth is harmful because the bacterium releases toxins that can cause bloating, constipation, and diarrhea with abdominal pain which may become severe. The latent symptoms often mimic some flu-like symptoms. Treatment is performed by stopping current treatment and commencing specific anticlostridial antibiotics, e.g. metronidazole or vancomycin.
After a brief respite the melamine and botulism contamination became almost a weekly occurrence for food recalls. Despite the recalls, investigations, promises, regulations and consumer awareness the problem only increased. WHY?
In June of 2008 this document entitled:
Fatal Dilemma: Using Clostridium botulinum as a Biological Weapon.
In a document released in October 2008: Blueprint for a Healthier America, tucked in the food safety section is a tiny little statement that might go unnoticed:
“Gaps in current inspection practices mean acts of agro-terrorism, such as contamination of wheat gluten or botulism, could go undetected until they are widespread;” (They are wide-spread currently)
